Barbershop receipt template
Short tickets, high volume, and a chair-rental model where each barber may be their own business. The receipt has to make clear whose sale it is, because that is who owes the tax on it.

The lines a barbershop actually bills
These are the preset line items this page loads into the maker. The price bands are typical, not prescriptive — set your own. The tax column is guidance: materials are taxable in most states and service labour often is not, which is a real per-state distinction covered on the state requirements pages.
| Line item | Billed by | Typical | Tax class |
|---|---|---|---|
| Haircut | each | $20 – $55 | Labour |
| Beard trim and line-up | each | $12 – $35 | Labour |
| Hot towel shave | each | $25 – $60 | Labour |
| Cut and beard combination | each | $30 – $70 | Labour |
| Child cut | each | $15 – $35 | Labour |
| Retail — pomade | each | $12 – $30 | Goods |
| Retail — beard oil | each | $15 – $35 | Goods |
The format this trade issues
The same 80 mm counter slip as a salon: short tape, service lines, a tip line and a barber name.
Get Receipt renders it as Salon appointment receipt — A5 appointment receipt: stylist block, service lines, retail product line, VAT added.
Paid in cash?
No federal rule obliges you to issue a receipt for an ordinary cash sale, but issue one anyway: it is your record as much as the customer’s, and a sequential number that runs across the year is what makes a quarter reconcile. The cash-sale guide covers the three situations that do create a duty.
Common questions
- Who issues the receipt in a chair-rental shop?
- The barber, under their own business name, if the client pays them directly. The shop’s name on the receipt implies the shop made the sale, which is not what a chair-rental arrangement means and not what either party’s books should show.
- Do I need a receipt for a $25 haircut?
- No federal rule requires one, but issue it anyway. It is your record of the sale, and the customer may need it — barbers get asked for receipts constantly by people claiming grooming as a business expense.
- How do I number receipts across two barbers?
- Give each barber their own prefix and a continuing sequence. Gaps in a single shared sequence look like missing sales in an audit; separate sequences with prefixes do not.
Card details on this receipt
Get Receipt prints at most four card digits and has no expiry field anywhere in the app. FACTA forbids printing more than the last five digits, or the expiration date at all, on a cardholder receipt — so a violating receipt is not something this tool can be made to produce, by hand or by the assistant.
