Market stall receipt template
A stall trader is asked for a receipt mid-transaction and has thirty seconds to produce one. The format that converts this seller is the one that looks like the carbon-copy book they already carry.
Free, no signup, no watermark. PDF, PNG and JPG export at the format’s real paper width.
The lines a market stall actually bills
These are the preset line items this page loads into the maker. The price bands are typical, not prescriptive — set your own. The tax column is guidance: materials are taxable in most states and service labour often is not, which is a real per-state distinction covered on the state requirements pages.
| Line item | Billed by | Typical | Tax class |
|---|---|---|---|
| Item — small | each | $5 – $15 | Goods |
| Item — medium | each | $15 – $40 | Goods |
| Item — large | each | $40 – $120 | Goods |
| Bundle of three | each | $12 – $35 | Goods |
| Custom or made-to-order | each | $30 – $200 | Goods |
| Market-day discount | each | $1 – $10 | Goods |
| Shipping | each | $5 – $18 | Goods |
The format this trade issues
A 58 mm compact slip — the width a phone card reader prints, and narrow enough to hand over without folding.
Get Receipt renders it as Market stall duplicate book — The carbon duplicate-book page a stallholder writes out by hand: ruled lines, cash tendered and change, trader signature.
The full field order, alignment grid and physical spec for that format is documented on the 58 mm compact thermal receipt spec page.
Paid in cash?
No federal rule obliges you to issue a receipt for an ordinary cash sale, but issue one anyway: it is your record as much as the customer’s, and a sequential number that runs across the year is what makes a quarter reconcile. The cash-sale guide covers the three situations that do create a duty.
Common questions
- Do I need a receipt for a $12 sale at a market?
- No rule requires it, but issue one when asked and keep your own copy. Market traders are the segment most likely to be reconstructing a quarter from memory, and a per-sale record is what stops that.
- How do I number receipts across markets?
- One continuing sequence, not one per market. Gaps in a sequence are what an auditor asks about; a single run that reconciles to your takings is what answers them.
- Is shipping taxable?
- It depends on the state and often on whether it is separately stated. Where it is taxable it folds into the taxable subtotal before the tax line, which is why it belongs on its own line rather than inside the item price.
Card details on this receipt
Get Receipt prints at most four card digits and has no expiry field anywhere in the app. FACTA forbids printing more than the last five digits, or the expiration date at all, on a cardholder receipt — so a violating receipt is not something this tool can be made to produce, by hand or by the assistant.
