Auto repair receipt template

Parts are taxable nearly everywhere, labour usually is not, and shop-supply charges sit awkwardly between the two. Several states also require the estimate and the final receipt to be reconcilable line by line.

The lines a auto repair actually bills

These are the preset line items this page loads into the maker. The price bands are typical, not prescriptive — set your own. The tax column is guidance: materials are taxable in most states and service labour often is not, which is a real per-state distinction covered on the state requirements pages.

The format this trade issues

A document format with a parts-and-labour split and a vehicle block — the shape a repair order actually takes.

Get Receipt renders it as Auto repair order A5 repair order: vehicle block, labour and parts separated, customer signature rule.

One thing this trade has to carry

Many states require an auto-repair registration number and the estimate-to-final-invoice reconciliation on the customer copy.

Common questions

Do parts and labour have to be separated?
Yes, in practice everywhere. Most states tax parts and not repair labour, so a blended line either overcharges the customer or leaves you short at filing time. Several states also require the split on the repair order by statute.
What has to identify the vehicle?
Year, make, model, plate and the mileage in and out. Mileage is what makes a warranty claim or a service-history dispute resolvable.
Is a shop-supplies charge taxable?
Generally yes, because it is a charge for materials rather than for labour. A percentage-based supplies line should be disclosed before the work, not discovered on the receipt.

Card details on this receipt

Get Receipt prints at most four card digits and has no expiry field anywhere in the app. FACTA forbids printing more than the last five digits, or the expiration date at all, on a cardholder receipt — so a violating receipt is not something this tool can be made to produce, by hand or by the assistant.
