Common questions
- Why does a fuel receipt not break out tax?
- Motor-fuel excise tax is included in the pump price rather than added at the register. It is the one everyday US retail format where the displayed price is tax-inclusive; many receipts print TAXES INCLUDED to say so.
- Why three decimal places?
- US pumps meter to thousandths of a gallon and price to a tenth of a cent — the nine-tenths convention. Rounding either to two decimals makes the gallons times the price disagree with the total.
- Why do expense reviewers reject fuel receipts?
- Because a summary receipt showing only a dollar amount cannot support a mileage or fuel claim. Gallons, price per gallon and grade are what make it acceptable.
Card details on this receipt
Get Receipt prints at most four card digits and has no expiry field anywhere in the app. FACTA forbids printing more than the last five digits, or the expiration date at all, on a cardholder receipt — so a violating receipt is not something this tool can be made to produce, by hand or by the assistant.
