Bakery receipt template
Counter sales sit next to custom orders with deposits, and the tax treatment splits between bakery items sold to take away and anything eaten in. Deposits need their own receipt with a balance line.

The lines a bakery actually bills
These are the preset line items this page loads into the maker. The price bands are typical, not prescriptive — set your own. The tax column is guidance: materials are taxable in most states and service labour often is not, which is a real per-state distinction covered on the state requirements pages.
| Line item | Billed by | Typical | Tax class |
|---|---|---|---|
| Loaf — sourdough | each | $6 – $11 | Goods |
| Pastry — croissant | each | $3.50 – $5.50 | Goods |
| Dozen assorted | dozen | $18 – $36 | Goods |
| Custom cake — 8 inch | each | $45 – $95 | Goods |
| Custom cake — tiered | each | $180 – $600 | Goods |
| Deposit received | each | $20 – $200 | Goods |
| Delivery and setup | each | $35 – $120 | Labour |
The format this trade issues
An 80 mm counter slip that can also carry a deposit and balance-due block for custom orders.
Get Receipt renders it as Bakery takeaway slip — 58 mm compact thermal slip: narrow column, reduced-rate VAT line, cash tendered and change.
Common questions
- How do I receipt a cake deposit?
- Issue a receipt for the amount received, describe what it is a deposit against, and print the balance remaining and the collection date. The final receipt then shows the deposit as an applied credit rather than a second sale.
- Are bakery items taxable?
- It depends on the state and often on how the item is sold. Several states exempt bakery goods sold to take away but tax the same item when it is eaten in or sold with utensils. Set your tax class by how you sell it, not by what it is.
- Do I need a taxable/non-taxable split?
- Any time one ticket mixes an exempt grocery item with a taxable prepared one. Print both subtotals and a per-line flag so the tax line can be checked against the lines it came from.
Card details on this receipt
Get Receipt prints at most four card digits and has no expiry field anywhere in the app. FACTA forbids printing more than the last five digits, or the expiration date at all, on a cardholder receipt — so a violating receipt is not something this tool can be made to produce, by hand or by the assistant.
